The Last Storm

Last day in town and all I could wish for was a typical afternoon storm and some brilliant colour! Check this!

Sunshine Night

An obsession with checking the surf can sometimes spill into the night!

A Slice of Home

Since I am going to be moving to France in under two weeks, I thought it was timely to take a few pictures of why I love being home too.

When you have no models, sometimes you have to do all the jobs yourself!

Nocturnal Sunshine

So very aware am I that it has been  while between posts I thought I would return with something worthwhile. Sometimes artistic photography can be a lonely pursuit, but when you  spend a few hours in the total darkness under the stars it serves as a welcome reminder the significance of peace and slowing down occasionally and how frivolous it is to waste so much time on 'modern excess'.

This photo was the result of my first successful star trail, an art form that is quite hard to compose in near pitch black. But patience pays off!

The following few photos are from Southbank in Brisbane, it's good to see you can find little gems so close!

Since it has been a while between posts I am throwing up a few bonus photos too.
This first one some of you may have seen on my instagram (@dwishaw) and is of my nephew being a miniature Buda.

And this bonus photo is was a crazy hard shot to get, seeing me hobbled in a cave avoiding exploding waves. But totally worth it!

Emma & Sam Tie the Knot!!!

Had a brilliant time last weekend photographing the wedding of my old friend Sam Angus and his beautiful new wife Emma! It was another stunning weekend on the Sunshine Coast, perfect weather for getting married in and I got to enjoy the day running around with Kim documenting these two awesome people committing to each other. I must say I loved every minute of working with these two as they were organised, low stress and we managed to have a lot of laughs! Congrats!!!

Sydney gets my vote!

So in case a few people were unaware I like Sydney alot! Why? Because it is so damn photogenic! with huge cliffs and rocky outcrops, antique rock pools, sand beaches cool architecture there are heaps of things to photograph there! On my latest trip there I was spending time relaxing on the northern beaches, went sailing and visited the zoo over four days. Was exceptional and managed to share it with some excellent company! Have a glance below at some of the photos collected over the 4 days! which one is your favourite?

Sunrise from a secret spot my friend Jack showed me (hint: it faces east)

Just a casual morning handstand:

An evening rock pool:

My friend Steve just got back from shooting a resort in Fiji but still managed to get him out for a morning before we left! Check out some of his photos from the job at stevengovel.com

Solace in the Madness

This weekend I had a bit of a family gathering to celebrate the christening of my second nephew's (my brother Ben's second son) christening. As fortune would have it mother nature wanted to come and play as well, bring 120 km/h winds, heavy rain and flooding. Even the church wasn't safe, we lost power and a gutter at one point and as you can imagine without lighting a church is a very dark place to take pictures! However I salvaged this one below, hope you enjoy!

The Mystic

I have had this idea floating around in my head for a while and this weekend I finally found a willing participant for the shot! So happy with how this one has turned out and happy to finally get a long term photographic idea out! Many thanks to the willing model too!

A Kiwi Celebration

I am writing this from the airport as I am on my way home from NZ, where I have been for the last week celebrating my granddad's 80th birthday (my presence was a surprise to him, which he appreciated!). Anyway I thought I would show off a quick section of the trip;

My Nana has a ridiculous rose garden;

You may have seen this on my instagram (@dwishaw) but I liked it so much I had to include it here too!

These lads keeping the carpark safe!

Hukka falls. You have to see it to believe it, but it is a narrow chute in the rock that jets out 40 cubic meters a second of water, insanely loud!

My cousin (who is a top 500 ranked tennis player) gave the oldies a demo of how to play tennis at their tuesday night tennis club meet, he managed to break a couple of tennis rackets in the process. I love how I managed to snap this just as the ball is 'in' his strings.

I couldn't have this post without a shot of the man himself! The NZ Kiwi industry has been devastated by PSA (a fungus that eats the vines) and I went to see an orchid with granddad and chat about that, while he picked off dead branches out of habit! (since he spent his life in the industry).

Remember

Last week I was in North Queensland for work and came across this memorial that was set up for remembrance day, so i thought I should wait until today to post it.

Working in Bali

Last weekend I had trip to Bali for our work sales conference (which some of you will no doubt question how much work was done), and between avoiding Bintang-ed Aussies and 'special' mushroom dealers I managed to wield my camera about.

Check out this timelapse taken from my room, the view every day!

The [insert surf brand here] junior pro was on at the same time we were there and there were some kids shredding all weekend!

Ryan and Renee

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure to be part of Ryan and Renee's wedding up at the amazing Spicers resort in Maleny. I spent the day running around the hill tops taking some awesome photos of this couple and decided that I had to do something special to present it. So I have spent the last week editing and putting together this mini-movie of the day, hope you enjoy the next 2 mins! (Music is: Les Djinns by Djuma Soundsytem (Trentmoller remix, who else?) and all photos and video are quite obviously supplied by Wishing Photography. Enjoy!
